APT: Acid Base Disorders
For our first AHD you should review the concepts behind Acid Base Disorders. Review Dr. Carpati’s lectures below. In addition there is also an article from NEJM regarding the physiological approach to acid base disorders. Finally review the step wise approach to acid base disorders as we will be using this method when solving Acid Base problems during the half day.

APT: Evidenced Based Medicine
For our last Academic Half Day of the year we will review concepts in Evidenced based medicine to utilize when reviewing studies. In preparation we are asking everyone to review a 2015 article from the NEJM on the SPIRNT trial.
APT: Tuberculosis
This week for our AHD we will be taking a look at Tuberculosis. There are lots of dense guidelines to help you treat TB, we just pulled the IDSA guidelines for drug susceptible pulmonary TB. In addition there is a booklet from the CDC on treating Latent TB. Please review both prior to your session.
APT: Arthritis
This week for AHD we will be covering inflammatory arthritis. In preparation please read the review articles on OA, RA, and seronegative arthritis. In addition there is a quick pre-work sheet to help you classify arthritis.
APT: Solid Malignancy
We covered liquid malignancies a few weeks ago, now we will look at solid malignancy. In preparation for this week it is important to review important screening guidelines for Colorectal Cancer and Lung Cancer Screening.
APT: Dermatology
This week we will be looking at rashes. In preparation please review Stanford’s “The General Dermatology Exam” so we will all be familiar with the language prior to the AHD. In addition, there are 3 essential articles to review about Dermatologic emergencies you may see while in the hospital.

APT: Heme Onc Emergencies
This week we will be covering Heme Onc Emergencies in our AHD. In preparation you will read a review article detailing a variety of emergencies that can arise for a patient with a malignancy. On the AHD we will dive into how to actively manage these issue
