What is the call schedule?

Our call schedule is every 3rd day on floor rotations. On weekends if you are not on call you have a golden weekend. During call you handle admissions from 3:30-6:30p. You can then sign out to the night team at 8:00p.

What are the Clinical Sites?

Residents at Lenox Hill only rotate through lenox hill while in-patient. Outpatient sites are either at our LHM Clinic on 85th street or MEETH on 64th.. The patient population is mixed in socioeconomic class. We have an ED located in our hospital and an additional ED located in Greenwich Village.

What is the typical floor census?

Our average patient census for our floor teams is 15 patients. This number can be higher or lower depending on the time of year. Census cap for teams is 20 patients. In the ICU each team carries an average of 7 patients with cap at 10.

How many patients are service vs Private?

The number varies but the majority of patients are service. The average ratio is 80% of patients are service. 20% are private.

What is the typical Team Composition?

Our regional teams are made up of one PGY-2 or PGY-3 and two PGY-1s. For Intensive care units we have two teams composed of one senior resident with one intern.

How do residents get feedback?

Residents get face to face feedback at the end of rotations using a standardized form. This allows for feedback to be communicated directly to residents.

What are the Educational Didactics Like?

We believe in providing a variety of didactic activities. We have a traditional lecture series and noon report lecture series. In addition we offer OSCEs, direct observations, and SimMan sessions. This year we started an Academic Half Day aimed to prime all our interns with need to know information about medicine topics.

What is the ABIM Pass Rate?

While still awaiting complete results from our most recent class given scheduling restraints due to COVID-19. Our ABIM pass rate is currently at 100%.

Are there research opportunities?

Every resident that comes to Lenox Hill at minimum will get two publications out of their Quality Improvement Project. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in our fellowship programs to work on research projects with a mentor in that particular field. In addition, residents can opt to use their elective time for research.

What are the Fellowship Match Rates?

Nearly all our trainees seeking fellowship match in their selected specialty. For more information about our fellowship match please review our program videos.

Are there Mentorship opportunities?

Lenox Hill Hospital has a mentorship program for any resident looking to find a particular mentor. In addition, our faculty in all fields are readily available and willing to help our residents.

Is there structured Procedural Training

At Lenox we use a variety of methods to get your comfortable to perform procedures on your own, including training session on SimMan. In addition, there is a procedure team that interested residents can take part in.

IS There Hospital Housing?

There is subsidized resident apartments available all located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. For those that request hospital housing but are unable to get it, you are given an additional $3,300 annually as a stipend towards housing.

What wellness initiatives does Lenox Offer?

There is a resident run wellness committee at Lenox that helps organize tasks including fitness classes, art classes, Broadway shows, and happy hours. This year we also kicked off our resident wellness Olympics allowing groups of residents to compete against one another in a variety of activities.

IS there a STipend for Meals?

Currently, Lenox Hill Hospital provides all residents with 12 meal tokens every 14 days of work. These tokens are good in the cafeteria in exchange for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There is also always free coffee/soda available to our residents.

Is there an Educational Stipend?

We provide our trainees with a $500.00 one time educational stipend to use for things like MKSAP, UWorld, ABIM board fees, or review courses. In addition, there is an additional stipend to be used for conferences available to all residents.

What is the starting salary at Lenox Hill?

Northwell provides their resident trainees with one of the highest salaries in the country. All PGY-1 interns starting Summer 2020 will have a starting salary of $74,000/year.

What is there to do in the area?

Residency in Manhattan lends itself to lots to do when outside of the hospital. We are conveniently located next to Central Park and Museum Mile. In addition, the UES has some of the best food options in the city.
